Books:
Wide My World, Narrow My Bed: Living and Loving the Single Life
Author: Luci Swindoll
A fantastic read concerning exactly what the subtitle proclaims: living and loving the single life! With a fun spirit and adventurous tone, Luci Swindoll brings to light many wonderful facets of the single life too often forgotten by the “suffering single.” Favorite moment reading the book? Picturing Chuck Swindoll’s sister, Luci, rocking out to Orff’s Carmina Burana while enthusiastically dancing around her apartment.
The Lost Art of True Beauty: The Set-Apart Girl’s Guide to Feminine Grace
Author: Leslie Ludy
While it would be easy to read this book through the lens of, “How-do-I-embrace-my-femininity-so-my-future-husband-will-notice-my-gentle-beauty-and-my-winning-proverbs-31-personality?,” (I know you know what I’m talking about ladies) I don’t recommend those lenses. Instead, read this book with the desire to be refined a bit and learn more about what it means to embrace your femininity as God designed you for–the ENJOYMENT of singleness can be the fruit of that embrace! My favorite part of the book was a lengthy list of very challenging questions Leslie poses and encourages you to ask yourself! They’re the kind of questions that make you wince while you read them because you recognize those character traits in yourself and know they need to be ousted. And, as we all know, those are the kinds of questions we all need to be asked.
